City of Annapolis Downtown Playground

Address/Directions: On the corner of Compromise St. and Newman St.

Features: Separate play space for 2-5 year olds (tot lot). Located near public basketball courts. Several slides. Universally accessible – has ramps. Crawl tube. Mulch surfacing. Spinning blocks for younger kids and benches. Climbing wall!

USNA, on campus

Address/Directions: Beardall Road on the US Naval Academy.  Visiting hours are between 9-5 pm, so you can stroll on with just a driver’s license

Features: Located right on the water.  Rubber/composite ground covering; swings; hanging rings; tube slide.  Games to help children with letters and forming basic words.

USNA, off campus

Directions/Address: On Annapolis-side of 450 bridge.  Take a left onto Badger Road, after swimming pool.  Playground is at the bottom of hill on right handside. This playground is located in the middle of military housing, but there is no gate.

Features: Nice sized gated playground.  Plenty of room to run and bike around, so bring a tricycle.  Pavilion located next door, so pack a lunch!  Slides, huge teeter totter, animals to “ride”, slides, swings. Ground covering is made of rubber material.  

Eastport Elementary School

Directions/Address:  On the corner of Severn Avenue and 5th Street, right over the Eastport-Annapolis Bridge.

Features: Separate tot lot; plenty of space to run around; big shady tree; vintage tall metal slide; balancing beam, several learning centers, where children can learn about animals and planets.

Eastport Public Playground

Directions/Address: Corner of Chester Avenue and Eastern Ave

Features: Very shady, small playground.  Has slides, swings, and climbing equipment.

Annapolis Library Playground

Directions/Address: Located on school property behind Annapolis Library  (1410 West Street ). Accessible via path from Taylor Ave.

Features: Several separate playgrounds, mulch ground covering, slides, platforms, plenty of place to run and bike around, benches, shady tree.

President’s Hill Playground

Directions/Address: Just about 100 feet due west of West Street from the corner of Montecello Avenue.

Features: The petite, shady, fun President’s Hill Playground is fully fenced, mulched, has a swing set, and a small play/climb station on about a 50×100 lot once the site of a historic home (Nice place to stop while strolling through “Uptown”).

Primrose Acres Park 

Directions/Address: This park is better to drive to from downtown; walking is a bit far unless you are a jogger. Primrose Acres Park is located at the corner of Garden Gate Ln and Eldermar Dr.  From Hilltop Lane and the corner of Primrose, go North, then right on Eldemar. 

Features: The Park features a new, ADA accessible playground structure, rock climbing wall, double swing set, and tilted whirlwind seat.  Park benches, picnic tables, fencing, and walkway have also been updated and improved. Click Here for a 3-D view of the playground facility:
